The December issue of Vanity Fair magazine will feature a nude photo of Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet.

The theme of the Kate Winslet nude shoot is a homage to French actress Catherine Deneuve as she appeared in the film Beautiful Day. The session was shot by photographer Steven Meisel.

A bit of controversy has surrounded the photos as the 33-year-old actress has denied rumors that the photographs had been subjected to heavy airbrushing. This is a charge that Winslet denies.

In the Vanity Fair piece Winslet talks about self-image issues, saying she wanted to avoid fame because she was “fat.” “I never had huge ambitions, never,’ said Winslet. “I was fat. I didn’t know any fat famous actresses. I just did not see myself in that world.”

These days Kate Winslet is promoting two films. Revolutionary Road, which re-unites her with Titanic co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, is the story of an American couple who fall into the trap of a suburban life during the 1950s. The Reader finds Winslet starring opposite Ralph Fiennes in a post-WWII drama.

The December issue of Vanity Fair hits news stands November 11th.
