A documentary on Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flint premieres tonight on the IFC cable network at 9pm EST.

Larry Flynt: The Right To Be Left Alone examines the life, career and crusade of the controversial adult entertainment mogul. Directed by Joan Brooker- Marks, this documentary from 2007 tells the story of Flynt’s rise from a club owner, who started a newsletter about the ladies who worked in his establishment, that would become the publisher of one of the world’s most celebrated adult magazines as well as one of the most recognized defenders of free speech and the first amendment rights of Americans.

Among the highlights of the documentary are Flynt’s first-person insight into Hustler’s most controversial cover, which depicted a women being fed through a meat grinder, the 1978 assassination attempt that left Flynt paralyzed from the waist down and his efforts to expose the hypocrisy of right wing political figures, who fought against the rights of the adult industry only to be later to be caught in their own sex and corruption scandals.

Larry Flynt: The Right To Be Left Alone has won critical acclaim for its honest and unbiased examination of its subject matter, and is a must-watch for those who share an active interest in the adult industry or the on-going fight to maintain the first amendment rights of Americans.
