Julie Moya, who is also known as “the madam with a heart” for her work with rescuing animals, has helped the New York City Police Department apprehend a man who had allegedly been assaulting and robbing New York call girls.

The New York Daily News reports that Moya told them in an interview that her help led to the arrest of 25-year-old Todd Cunningham. Cunningham is being charged with searching out prostitutes on Craigslist, then confronting the ladies by identifying himself as a police officer and “arresting” them. Moya was able to pick Cunningham out of a police lineup after he attempted a to run his scheme at her house of business last month.

“He tells (his victims), ‘You are under arrest for prostitution!’ and he clipped on handcuffs. Then he comes out and says, ‘Everybody sit down. You’re all under arrest,’” Moya told the Daily News. She also said Cunningham arrived at her business with a fake badge and a device he talked into as if it was a police radio.

Moya explained that Cunningham “fondled” one of her escorts as well. Charges against Cunningham also include sodomizing and stealing $4,000 from another escort.

The police were able to apprehend Cunningham by tracking the cellphone he was using to book appointment with potential victims.

Cunningham declined to comment to the Daily News for this story. At this time his is free on $25,000 bail.
