The global financial crisis has reached the doorstep of an Australian nudist resort, as the establishment has decided to lift a ban on swingers and sex parties in order to jumpstart its sagging business.

Up until recently, The White Cockatoo resort, in Mossman, Queensland had put a ban on sex parties because the events had crossed the lines of what the resort felt was appropriate. However, a drop in the number of patrons visiting the resort has led to the White Cockatoo holding an adults-only “anything goes” month of hedonism in March of this year in order to increase patronage at the nudist facility.

The resort owner, Tony Fox talked about the change in policy in an interview with UK newspaper, The Sun. “Tough economic times call for stiff measures,” said Fox. “We’ve taken the bull by the horns and it’s going nuts. We’re close to fully booked. It will be a hedonism resort, where anything goes for a month. We’re not using the words sex or swingers, but it doesn’t take rocket science to work out what it means.”

Of course, the resort has received some negative feedback on the policy change from religious groups. “You’ve got to wonder what sort of people go and why,” said Cairns Catholic Bishop James Foley. “Where is the moral code of behavior and how do you stop jealousies and fights?”

Still local tourism chief Doug Ryan defended the resorts efforts to improve business, saying– “As long as whatever they do stays within the law then good on them.”
