A 36-year-old man in Singapore man was found guilty and sentenced to 14 years in jail and 18 strokes of a cane for molesting his victims, including for sniffing women’s armpits, according to a report by the Reuters news service. Caning on the butt is one of the sentences for men found guilty in the country.

A local newspaper, the Straits Times, reported that the man is “mentally unstable,” and that he had prior run-ins and convictions for a myriad of sex and drug offenses. The report also stated that the man had molested 23 women over the course of the last 15 months. These attacks including his fetish of sniffing their pits and touching them inappropriately in elevators and stairwells. A local housewife’s complaint to police led to his eventual capture.
