Georgina Spelvin, who gained iconic status as the star of Gerard Damiano’s 1973 porn classic The Devil in Miss Jones, has released her autobiography, The Devil Made Me Do It.

The book tells Spelvin’s story of her entry into the XXX movie biz with the cult classic and her other experiences in adult. A classically trained actress, she came from Texas to find her fame and fortune in New York City. She danced, sang and acted on (and off) Broadway, including a lead in the original production of the musical Pajama Game. The X-rated business was barely one year old when she starred in Gerard Damiano’s landmark movie, which was his follow-up to his hit Deep Throat. Georgina was hired by the director to play Miss Jones. She was originally hired as the cook, but went on to fame as the star of the movie and became the object of desire for men of all ages, despite the fact that she was in her mid-thirties, which is practically unheard of these days in porn. She made many other hardcore movies before her retirement in 1982, plus B-movies and even appeared in two Police Academy movies.

In 2005, Spelvin made news with a cameo appearance at the age of 70 in the Paul Thomas/Vivid remake of the classic which starred Savanna Samson as Miss Jones and Jenna Jameson as the Devil. At its release, we got a rare interview with Georgina and she told us about the impact the original movie had on her life.

“It made me a household word—just like Sani-Flush. I was an out-of-work actress trying to get a part—any part. Then this nice little Italian guy named Jerry [Gerard] Damiano offered me the lead in a feature film. And the rest, as they say, is history. After that, the roles kept coming—and so did I.”
