The Victorian Court of Appeal has increased the financial damages to be awarded to an Australian woman whose ex-boyfriend distributed videos of the couple having sex, according to a story published on abc.net.au.

Alla Giller, the victim of the sex tape scandal, was originally awarded $4,500 in damages, but the judges who heard the appeal found this number to be inadequate. The court has now awarded Giller a total of $135,000; $50,000 in damages for assault, $40,000 for breach of confidence, and $45,000 in property interests.

During the court procedure it was revealed that Boris Procopets taped himself engaged in sex acts with Giller ten times. The earlier tapings were done without Giller’s knowledge, though Giller was aware of later tapings of the couple being intimate.

Court documents showed that after the relationship ended on a tumultuous note, Procopets showed Giller’s mother photos of Alla having sex, and also tried to show videos to both of her parents and her employer.

In the court reaching its decision for the damages to be awarded Diller, the court relied on international decisions, including the cases of Naomi Campbell and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones.
