In Erwin, TN a woman was arrested for attempting to exchange sex with a senior citizen for prescription medicine.

Kimberly Whitson, 36, had been previously warned to stop having sexual contact with elderly men in exchange for prescription pills, but  was jailed Wednesday when she was caught in a sting operation with a police officer posing as an elderly man, Sheriff Kent Harris said Thursday.

Whitson was charged with prostitution, casual exchange, possession of schedule IV drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was being held in the county jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

According to Harris, the sheriff’s department had a report in June that Whitson was participating in this type of activity with two men on multiple occasions. The sheriff’s department went to talk to her and two men in their 70s who were engaging in sexual behavior with her.

“It’s just sad that somebody would be so desperate for pills that they would put themselves in that kind of position,” Harris said. “It’s really sad to me for her. Evidently, she’s hooked on them so bad that she’ll do anything to get them.”

“When we went to see her, we even told her our goal … (is) not to put you in jail,” Harris said. “We’re here to tell you to stop it. It needs to stop. You don’t need to be around them. Their families don’t want you around them.”
