We know there was that little holiday of sorts a couple of weeks ago known as Groundhog Day. Besides spawning an annoying Bill Murray movie, it’s the day traditioanlly celebrated in Punxsutawney, PA over at Gobbler’s Knob where according to folklore, if the animal comes out of his burrow and fails to see its shadow, that means winter is coming to an end soon. But if he does see it, then six more weeks of winter.

This year the little rodent saw his shadow meaning this freakin’ cold (especially the one we have to deal with here on the East Coast) is here for another half-dozen. But we’re not willing to accept that, so we have thus created Hedgehog Day.

For this occassion we are asking that from this day forward, another fuzzy animal, the Hedgehog, Ron Jeremy — a man who has had his knob gobbled more times than anyone else in adult — bring an end to this winter. We want the Hedgehog to come out of his California abode, somehow avoid his rather robust shadow and help usher Spring in sooner. It’s not too much to ask a man who has partaken of our complimentary industry buffets and women, is it? Therefore we hereby declare the 3rd Tuesday of every February here on, Hedgehog Day.
