According to a report published on TheSun.co.uk, a couple, who were being charged with breaching a noise abatement notice for their loud sex, had a tape of their noisy love-making played in court.

Caroline and Steve Cartwright’s loud sex encounters had led to 25 formal complaints to authorities. When the couple from Sunderland, England appeared before the magistrates, an audio tape of the noisy love making was used as evidence buy the prosecution.

Environmental Health had placed recording equipment in a neighbor’s apartment to make the tape that would later be played in court.

Caroline Cartwright, 47 had denied the charges, but was convicted after the tape was played for the court.

The Cartwrights’ neighbor, Rachel O’Connor had the recording equipment in her home, and she had the responsibility of hitting the “record” button whenever she would hear the Cartwrights go at it.

“I heard sounds of a sexual nature, they were really loud, and there was a lot of moaning and groaning and screaming as if in pain,” said O’Connor. “It wasn’t just the woman, it came from both parties.”

According to the Sun report, the tape had been made through a sound-proofed wall. But words and the sound of slapping were audible.

Cartwright told the court: “I am not making the noise on purpose. I have no desire to hurt anybody or damage any property.”

Cartwright was fined £200 with £300 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
