Things continue to keep going from bad to worse for Florida Rep. Tim Mahoney. The growing amount of accusations against the Democratic Congressman now include having a sexual relationship outside his marriage with a former aid, firing her and then paying her $121,000 to back down from her threats to sue him for sexual harassment. He is also being accused of an inappropriate relationship with a high-ranking Martin County official, which allegedly took place at a time when he was lobbying for federal emergency aid for Martin County. As if that wasn’t enough, the FBI is investigating charges that Mahoney may have used federal money to hire his mistress to work in his office.

All of this comes as Mahoney is campaigning for re-election to his congressional seat.

Though Mahoney has not publicly admitted to any affairs or political wrongdoing, he did issue a public statement saying that he takes “full responsibility for my actions and the pain I have caused my wife Terry and my daughter Bailey.”

Top Republican Party officials have called for the incumbent congressman to resign amid all of this scandal, however Mahoney has given no indication that he plans to step down and has continued his campaign for re-election.
