The San Francisco Chronicle reports that police have warned people in the area of the University Of California Berkeley campus about ten separate incidents where a man has accosted women from behind and tried to touch them after lifting their skirts.

Officer Andrew Frankel of the Berkeley police said that the skirt-lifting incidents have happened south of campus. The occurrences began taking place last October, and Frankel said that one woman was victimized twice, months apart.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s, up to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and short, dark wavy hair. The description is sketchy because few of the women have gotten a good look at the assailant, Frankel said.

Most of the victimized women were walking home from weekend fraternity or sorority parties between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (510) 981-5735.
