The Magna Publishing Group is pleased to announce the purchase of three of the top men’s magazines in the marketplace. As part of the purchase agreement effective April 30, 2008, Magna will be publishing the print publications and operating the websites of the former Montcalm Publishing titles, Fox, Gallery and Lollypops, as well as the domain, GirlNextDoor.com, which is based on the popular modeling contest from Gallery.
The purchase of these titles solidifies the Magna Publishing Group as the premier and most prolific publisher of men’s sophisticate titles in the world today, and brings their current roster of titles published to 56. Magna also publishes such well-established titles such as Swank, Genesis, Velvet, Just 18, Gent, Leg World and many more.
“We are obviously pleased to acquire these major titles,” said Dan Davis, Editorial Director for Magna. “We know they are respected by both consumers and the industry and we look forward to not only continuing the quality of these publications, but also improving on various aspects in both the print and electronic mediums. We look forward to working with the industry in achieving these goals.”
Gallery began publishing in 1972 and is best known for its “Girl Next Door” amateur model contest, which has launched the careers of many magazine models and adult film stars, most notably the legendary Stacy Valentine, who at the time was an Oklahoma housewife.
Fox began its publishing history in 1983 and has gained a reputation of being one of the “hottest” magazines in the marketplace. It has also featured various adult film stars in its masthead, including Jill Kelly and the late Anna Malle.
Lollypops was launched in 2000 as a sister publication to Fox. The magazine features models between the ages of 18 and 20.
The first issues of the magazines under the Magna leadership will be on sale at newsstands worldwide in July, 2008, and will now be distributed by Curtis Circulation Company. The websites for these titles as well as GirlNextDoor.com will be available soon as part of the SwankDollars.com affiliate program.

Superstar adult performer and Déjà vu contract starlet Sunny Lane took time out of her hectic schedule to boost morale among a group of United States Marines at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California.

I would’ve been happy to do a whole lot more but I don’t think the base commander would have approved,” she said chuckling.

Currently in the midst of a rigorous 2008 schedule that has Lane traveling all around the world as part of her Déjà vu sponsored 2008 Girl-Next-Door-Tour, Sunny Lane is doing exactly what she has dreamed about. “I get to travel all over the world meeting my fans and making new ones and I’m loving every minute of it.”

Lane will be appearing May 8th, 9th, and 10th at the Déjà vu Showgirls nightclub located at 7350 Coldwater Canyon in North Hollywood, California with three feature dance shows nightly. I just got news of something that really pisses me off on a personal level, as well as a moral one. Let me start this blog by saying this is solely my opinon and does not or should not reflect my employers, or anyone else associated with this URL.

My friend Brian Gross of BSG Public Relations, uses a little service that many publicists in various industries use called Constant Contact, to facilitate the distribution of his press releases via e-mail. Now mind you, their service is far from cheap. but when your press list is as large as someone’s like Brian’s is, it’s kind of a necessary evil. The larger your list, the more expensive it is, so on and so forth.

In Brian’s busy schedule he volunteers his time, like I do, to support a charity called b.a.b.e.: breast awareness benefits everyone. I lost my mother, grandmother, aunts, etc. to breast cancer, and Marcia Hrichison’s (she’s a breast cancer survivor) non-profit charity raises money to aid in awareness and early detection of the horrible disease to help save the lives of women. Brian is the pro-bono publicist for b.a.b.e., as well as serving on their board of advisors, as I also do. We both have put countless hours into events, fund raising efforts, etc. for this charity because it is an amazing cause and insidious disease we both want to see eradicated from the planet.

Countless adult stars have joined us over the years such as Taylor Wane, Tera Patrick, Jesse Jane, Stormy Daniels, Joanna Angel, Jenna Haze, Nautica Thorn, Sunny Lane, Gina Lynn, Katie Morgan, just to name but a few. Various companies have lended both their personal and financial resources in support of b.a.b.e. such as Paul Fishbein and AVN, HotMovies.com, Marci Hirsch and Vivid, Samantha Lewis and Adella at Digital Playground, Steve O. at Wicked Pictures, Kim at Pink Visual, Atlas Multimedia, Booble, WantedList, Katy at Adam and Eve, the late Pam Anderson and Metro, and the list goes on and on there, too. Hell, even major corporate brands and mainstream stars have lent their support one way or another such as A.J. from the Backstreet Boys, Evan Seinfeld, Coolio, Chastity Bono, the Grammy Awards, Gene Simmons, Sebastian Bach, Jason Bonham, Gibson Guitars, Ivan Kane’s 40 Deuce Club, and the list continues there as well.

I personally became involved with the charity shortly after my mother passed away from breast cancer and “mainstream” charities wouldn’t take money I could raise through the adult community because of its source, but that’s a whole other story and you get the point, so now back to this story…

So Brian uses Constant Contact, and they contact him today informing him that several images in his library are “offensive” and/or “inappropriate” to them, and they must be deleted right away or they will suspend or cancel his account. Now mind you, I’ve been getting these releases with said images for years and I have to constantly search my library or ask Brian for something more offensive. I know their threats aren’t veiled. They have canceled other accounts such as April Storm’s in the past and warned me about using them because of my posts during my “trial” period, and when that happens, it’s a major pain the ass setting up your list once again with another service.

So Brian is on the phone with their customer service sow, who is going through his image library one by one. She gets to the b.a.b.e. logo you see on top of this post, and tells him that this must be deleted as well, as it’s offensive. It’s a fuckin’ cartoon of Taylor Wane in a bikini. So they are essentially saying that if Touchstone Pictures or Walt Disney put out a press release with them touting some kind of Who Framed Roger Rabbit thing with an image of Jessica Rabbit, that would be offensive? It’s basically the same type of imagery. Wait, it’s even less — we don’t even get to see Taylor’s cute little ass here! So how is it offensive? Because a publicist who also works for porn companies has it? Because it’s in a media library with a Joanna Angel picture or Pink Visual logo?

Brian tried explaining to them this was a charity, what they do and that this is their logo. What is he supposed to use now? They don’t care. It’s offensive. It must be deleted.

You know what’s offensive to me? Constant Contact. Delete them. Go fuck yourselves! Is that offensive? I think not.

Congrats go out to Adam Glasser aka Seymore Butts. He has joined the ranks of such XXX authors such as Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy and has accepted a publishing deal from Gotham Books for his prescriptive sexual advice book which targets men specifically and will be titled, Things Your Father Never Had The Balls To Tell You.

Jimi Hendrix, the iconic rock ‘n roll guitarist, will be seen in a new role – as an adult film star – in “Jimi Hendrix The Sex Tape” to be released online at www.hendrixsextape.com today, Tuesday, April 29th by Vivid Entertainment, the world’s leading adult film studio. It will be available in stores across the country a week later on Tuesday, May 6th.

Vivid obtained the footage from a collector of rock ‘n roll memorabilia. It was shot about 40 years ago in a hotel room as Hendrix had an erotic liaison with two slender brunettes. When the footage starts, Hendrix appears mellow while on the receiving end of bi-racial lovemaking from the two girls. In contrast, his enthusiasm to give back pleasure appears to be boundless.

The Vivid DVD is a sexual documentary that gives insight on the uninhibited rock ‘n roll scene of the Sixties. The company consulted with several experts to authenticate the footage and the movie features commentary by two of the experts that Vivid brought in: Pamela Des Barres, author of “I’m with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie” and other books, who teams up with Cynthia Plaster Caster, famous for creating plaster molds of the penises of rock stars, including that of Hendrix. We learn more about the sexual side of Hendrix’ music through the commentary from both women who knew him personally.

“This new movie shows that Jimi Hendrix could have been as great a porn star as he was a rock star. He could clearly play more than just his guitar,” said Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch. It’s easy to see that he turned women on with his music and his passion.”

As consultants, the first job of Des Barres and Plaster Caster was to confirm that it is actually Hendrix portrayed in the 8 mm footage. “No doubt about it,” says Plaster Caster. “That’s Jimi Hendrix’ d*ck and I should know.” She then relates how she was invited to Hendrix’ hotel room on February 25, 1968, where she made a plaster mold of his penis which she compares to Jimi’s on film.

Plaster Caster says Hendrix had an orgasm while in her cast for the mold, which she numbered #0004 and called the “Penis de Milo.” “It was a magical process that only lasted a half hour,” she recalls. In the Vivid DVD she also reveals that on the night she cast Hendrix’ penis she also had sex with musician Noel Redding, bassist for The Jimi Hendrix Experience band.

Ashly Dupre has had a busy week. First she reportedly hires Mariah Carey’s former manager to represent her, and now according to several sources such as TMZ.com and People magazine, she has filed a lawsuit against Joe Francis and his Girls Gone Wild line for “for exploitation of her name and image for profit.”

The 23-year-old former call girl who was at the center of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer’s resignation is suing for $10 million, claiming she was 17 when the footage was filmed and that she never gave permission to use her name or likeness. She also reportedly claims that crew members for the popular brand gave her alcohol, got her tipsy, and she did some things on camera which she did not want to as a result.

Joe Francis issued the following statement in response to a lawsuit allegedly filed by Ashley Dupré: “We were very surprised and in fact amazed today that Ms. Dupré filed a lawsuit against Girls Gone Wild. We have not publicly released any new video of Ms. Dupré, due to corporate policy of not using footage of individuals younger than 18. It is incomprehensible that Ms. Dupré could claim she did not give her consent to be filmed by Girls Gone Wild, when in fact we have videotape of her giving consent, while showing her identification. We did in fact offer Ashley via her New York attorney $1 Million to host and promote various Girls Gone Wild activities – She refused this offer and in fact if she’d like to reconsider, we’d be happy to discuss. She should keep in mind, it’s considerably more than the Governor of New York paid her, and our activities aren’t illegal,” said Joe Francis, CEO of Girls Gone Wild. “She’s seeking $10 Million for topless photos taken in front of a room full of people, including two newspapers and multiple crews we had in the room. These images were taken in public places and contain no sexual contact. We expect to triumph in this matter and continue to offer the best and hottest girls,” added Francis.

According to a report on the wire services, a New Mexico couple were watching a porn movie together when the girlfriend apparently thought her man was actually in the movie. The 20-year-old woman flew into a rage thinking her boyfriend was moonlighting behind her back and she came after him with a knife.

The boyfriend called 911 and told authorities she allegedly held the knife under his throat, then chased him. He ran out of the house and into an officer who was on the way to the 911 call. She was arrested and charged with several crimes, including aggravated assault.

Good thing they weren’t watching Pirates. Those swords can be dangerous.

Porn Star. It’s a term thrown around pretty loosely these days. It seems that a girl shoots a scene on a handheld camcorder her wannabe director boyfriend picked up at Best Buy, then she sticks it on a shared content site somewhere, and like magic she’s a porn star.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I think this term should be used a little more gingerly. I know I’m showing my age here a bit, but to me the title of porn star always meant a little more to me long before I worked here. When I thought/think of porn stars, Names like Tera Patrick, Jesse Jane, Stormy Daniels, Chasey Lain, Jenna Jameson, Racquel Darrian, Taylor Wane, Barbara Dare, Ginger Lynn, Marilyn Chambers (okay, so she was before my time) come to mind. You get the point.

Yes, the talent pool in Porn Valley was a helluva lot smaller. There was no real Internet to speak of. The cost to put out a video (remember those?) was a lot more than it is these days. Now there are plenty of girls who qualify as true porn stars working in the business today. You have your porn stars, your porn superstars and your porn performers. Just because you slobbered on some cock and it was captured on some sort of medium doesn’t make you a porn star. Here’s how I got here onto this little topic…

I was down in Miami at the Exxxotica show a week or so ago. An unknown girl comes up to me at our booth and asks, “When are you going to shoot me for GENESIS?” It’s not a rare request. I get lots of emails, phone calls and requests just like it all the time from girls just like her. I would like to preface all of this by saying that I’m a pretty nice guy, especially when representing the magazine, and no matter how harsh a chick might look, I’m polite — at least to her face.

My response back to unknown girly was my standard one that sounds something like this. “Well my dear girl. GENESIS features porn stars. We only shoot porn stars. Our layouts are all of porn stars. We do however have a wonderful contest you can enter for amateurs, called Sex Star Hunt, or once you get a decent number of titles from reputable and known production companies in the marketplace, we would love to discuss possibly shooting you for one of our fine layouts in our fine publication.”

So after my little polite retort, our little friend at the booth replies back to me with a bit of an attitude that made her chins shake, “Well, I’m not an amateur!”

“You’re not?” I queried ever so shocked that I had never heard of this vision of loveliness standing before me.

“No! I’ve been on such and such website, and in two movies!” she exclaimed back and then listed the companies of which she had shot for, which coincidentally enough were amateur type of productions. “I’m a porn star!”

I calmly told her that those credits do not a porn star make as nicely as I could despite her attitude which was growing by the fuckload. What I really wanted to do was to grab her by her little paw and take her around our booth and point out each and every girl signing there. “This is Jesse Jane. She’s a porn star. This is Stormy Daniels. She’s a porn star. Jenna Haze. Porn star. Joanna Angel. Porn star. Bree Olson. Kayden Kross. Nautica Thorn. Porn star. Porn star. PORN STAR!”

Porn stars have fans. People want to meet porn stars. They have websites with members. They feature dance. They (usually) look pretty good. People pay them to shoot movies or layouts using <gasp> real cameras operated by real crews. There are many more things that go into achieving porn star status. So please, unless you’re really a porn star, don’t go callin’ yourself one.

Like the sayin’ goes, “You’ve nailed a few boards, and that doesn’t make you a carpenter. Fixed a sink, but you’re not a plumber. You suck one cock and you’re a cocksucker.” Oh, and he ain’t a director, either!
