Flynt vs. Flynts: Judge Issues T.R.O.
Posted on January 22nd, 2009 by GenesisEditor under News
The Associated Press is reporting that U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz has issued a temporary restraining order to Dustin and Jimmy Flynt II, the nephews of Larry Flynt, that a disclaimer must be included in adult films if they use the Flynt family name stating their products are in no way connected to Larry Flynt or Hustler.
The nephews, who worked for their uncle for over 10 years before being dismissed last year, plan to release seven DVDs under the name Flynt Media Corp., and Larry Flynt sued for copyright infringement. “They don’t want to be affiliated with their uncle, but they do want to use their last name,” said the nephews’ attorney Andrea M. Kimball in a statement.
A trial is set to being July 28th, however both sides said they will try to settle before then, though the judge said a meeting between them was “not well-advised.” “When you have a [family] at war with each other, sometimes it’s better to keep them apart,” Judge Matz said.
