Buddy Jones, 52, got his first-degree murder charge reduced to involuntary manslaughter after explaining that he “accidentally” murdered Michelle Rawls by strangulation while the couple had sex.

Jones, who has a criminal history, says that because he felt that no one would believe he took Rawls’ life unintentionally, he dismembered her body and hid it in various locations in the Wichita, Kansas area.

Because Jones led authorities to Rawls’ remains and due to the fact that prosecutors couldn’t prove anything other than what Jones told them about the incident, he was able to work out a deal to plead guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge.

“Sometimes you have to make a deal with the devil,” Deputy District Attorney Kevin O’Connor said in regards to the charges being reduced.

Jones could serve up to ten years in prison for the death of Michelle Rawls.
