Sexual Trauma Affecting 15 Percent of Current War Veterans
Posted on October 28th, 2008 by GenesisEditor under NewsResearchers report that nearly 15 percent of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans currently seeking medical air from the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department have suffered sexual trauma, from harassment to rape, and this group are 1.5 times as likely as other veterans to need mental health services.
Most veterans who were affected were reportedly women. Around 15 percent of female veterans seeking health care services of some sort also reported sexual trauma, while just under one percent of male soldiers reported the same.
