The Associated Press is reporting that a couple in Egypt have been arrested for allegedly swapping sex partners with other married couples.

According to security officials, the couple, a teacher and her civil servant husband, were soliciting other couples to swing with them at their home over the internet.

The couple is being charged for having at least three swinger parties, and, being that sex out of wedlock is illegal in Egypt, police are continuing with an investigation into others who were involved in the sex gatherings.

Egyptian officials are saying that the couple sought like-minded couples in chat rooms on a popular Arabic pornographic website. They then arranged interview meetings at a Cairo coffee shop to see if the chemistry was right.
One official said that the couple allegedly turned down over 40 couples after the interviews because “they didn’t find them acceptable.”

One Egyptian man whose phone number was listed on the Arabic porn site condemned the arrests in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

“They cannot arrest people who are doing these things at will. Nobody is forcing them,” said the man, who would only identify himself as Ahmed.
