Jennifer Larsen, former talent coordinator at Hustler and PR and marketing manager at Digital Playground, passed away from an apparent suicide on Sunday.

The Orange County coroner confirmed to XBIZ that the cause of death was a perforating gunshot wound to the head.

After leaving Digital Playground, Larsen worked for the U.S. Army National Guard.

Long-time friend and colleague James Bartholet said that he was not aware of any severe depression that Larsen was going through around the time of her death. They last spoke at an adult trade show in January.

“I thought we were going to hear from Jennifer,” Bartholet said. “She said, ’I’ve got a leave or something coming up and I’m going to come and visit with you guys.’ That was a month or two ago.

“I never heard from her and then the tragic news — one of our mutual friends called me last night. He said that she passed away. And as I was doing more investigation into this, it seems that she committed suicide.

“She was just a really wonderful person,” Bartholet added. “She was a really hard worker. She was always a good person to hang out with.”

Bartholet also noted that Larsen was a mother and that the incident occurred on Mother’s Day.

“Being a parent myself, I’m just shocked that she would do something like that because these kids are going to be scarred for the rest of their lives,” he said. “You know, Mother’s Day comes up and it’s going to be like ‘this is when my mother died.’”

Larsen studied at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, and graduated from Pacifica High in Garden Grove, Calif. in 1995.

She was living in Orange County at the time of her death.

Patricia Krentcil or “Tanning Mom,” as she has been dubbed by the tabloid machine, will make a cameo performance in Lucas Entertainment’s second season of the gay porn drama, Kings of New York.

Writer/director Marc told XBIZ that they “filmed the wine soaked and effervescent talent on Saturday.”

Each episode of Kings of New York features a mainstream celebrity who (with clothes on) participates in a story line that establishes the theme particular to that show. The series follows ruthlessly ambitious New Yorkers as they navigate their way to success. Previous cameo appearances include Andy Dick, Martin Samuel, Lady Bunny, Bianca Del Rio, Derek Saathoff and Derek Hartley.

Krentcil’s episode centers on the present degradation of celebrity where “talent, skill and ambition aren’t necessities to fame,” Marc said.

In an apropos role, Krentcil plays the flippant owner of a tanning salon. The clientele, Johnny and Liam, drop by the salon to get a little color before hitting Fire Island for the weekend.

TMZ reported that Krentcil approached Vivid Entertainment prior to her deal with Lucas Entertainment with the intention of pursuing an adult acting career, but was turned down. According to Marc, Lucas Entertainment was not aware of Krentcil’s negotiations with Vivid or any other studios when they contracted her to appear in the show.

Krentcil earned her nickname and first headlines last year when she allegedly took her five-year-old daughter to a tanning salon in New Jersey, where it is illegal for children under the age of 14 to receive tanning salon services. Charges against Krentcil were dropped in February.

Adult star Joanna Angel is appearing in the mainstream film Scrapper, premiering at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) May 21-22.

Angel plays Naomi in the movie, a struggling single mom and caretaker to the central character Hollis’s ailing mother. “We wanted the role of Naomi to be something other than the cliché that you see in almost every movie and TV show,” director Brady Hall said.

He added that Angel settled into her character with surprising ease. “She perfectly captured the attitude of Naomi; a single mother constantly frustrated by Hollis’ inability to get home on time, and brought a lot of fun to the set. I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets more offers to work with all her clothes on.”

The drama stars Michael Beach (“Sons of Anarchy”) as Hollis Wallace, the titular “scrapper” who supports himself and his ailing mother by scavenging and selling cast-off copper, aluminum and other valuable metals; his unremarkable life is suddenly jolted by a remarkable chain of events that dramatically shakes him wide-awake and changes his life forever.

“Being in this movie was truly an honor,” Angel said. “I loved working alongside Michael Beach who taught me so much. I can’t wait to see the film. A lot of love, passion and hard work went into the film by everyone in the cast.”

Angel, her co-stars and Hall will be on hand for a Q&A session for the film.

The film screens at the SIFF Uptown Theater at 6 p.m. on May 21-22.

Brooklyn Lee, the reigning XBIZ “Female Performer of the Year,” has announced plans to retire from porn.

Lee posted her intentions on the adult industry discussion forum, Adult DVD Talk, on Wednesday. Her agent Mark Spiegler also confirmed her plans to XBIZ.

In Lee’s post, she said, “… Also yes, I have retired. Off to other things and greener pastures. It’s time for me to focus on the bigger picture; my education. Just going to school and being me. All is well… the adult industry is simply no longer a place I belong or wish to be.”

Her post continued, “There has been some speculation that I quit because of my long-time boyfriend, who is a figure behind the scenes in the industry. I would love to tell you that I am a fully liberated woman who does what she pleases and can easily separate work life from home. I won’t lie to you. While the man that I love never once asked me to quit performing, I did do so in part because of him. When you reach a point where you loathe heading to set because there’s only one person in the world you have any desire to have sex with, it’s time to move on from sex work… so I did.

“I take with me many fond memories and unique experiences; I wish the very best to my friends that remain in adult. I came, I saw, I conquered… and now I’m done.”

Lee said to look for Vivid Entertainment’s release of its remake of Behind the Green Door, a movie in which she was the lead, this September.

“I would say that it’s the best work I’ve ever done. Nothing I could ever do could compete with it… so why bother?

“You can also see me in Deborah Anderson’s Aroused Project, on Hulu, iTunes and theaters near you. The whole thing turned out really beautifully.”

Lee was unavailable for comment at post time. However Spiegler said that the star had indicated she would perform in one more movie before bowing out, noting she is scheduled to be the lead in Evil Angel’s Voracious 2 which begins shooting later this month. Lee earned critical acclaim for her lead role in the original Voracious, an episodic web series directed by John Stagliano that also was released on DVD in 2012.

Lee has performed in more than 130 movies since beginning her porn career in 2010. Last week, she won a pair of honors at the 29th annual X-Rated Critics Organization Awards, taking home” Superslut” and “Orgasmic Oralist” trophies.

Spiegler said Lee has already enrolled in college on a pre-med track.

“You can’t do porn forever, and this is like planning ahead for the future and she will do well in school,” he said. “She’s very smart and really good at writing.”

Vivid Entertainment and Axel Braun picked up major honors once again at the XRCO Awards ceremony, which was held over the weekend at the famed Supperclub in Hollywood. Undisputed King of Parody Braun added another prestigious trophy to his extensive collection by winning Best Director/Parody for the third year in a row. The “Best Parody/Comedy” award went to the ABP/Vivid mega-blockbuster Star Wars XXX while “Best Parody/Comic Book” was given to fan favorite Superman Vs Spider-Man XXX.

Assence Films, a “Best New Studio” nominee during the 2013 awards season has reached a milestone for their best selling series Anal Artists.

The original Anal Artists which featured one of Sasha Grey’s final scenes helped kick start Assence Films into an industry powerhouse. The controversial donation offer created a publicity firestorm covered by media outlets like TMZ and Huffington Post.

“Anal Artists has always been our number one selling series. These titles pack some of the hottest talent who exhibit raw sexual energy and we see consistent sales and reorders on this series” said Assence owner Mike Kulich.

It appears that Farrah Abraham has signed on the dotted line. About three weeks after she filmed a sex tape with adult film star James Deen – and a couple weeks of very public negotiations — the 21-year-old former Teen Mom star has reportedly landed a deal with porn company Vivid. According to TMZ, Abraham has signed a contract with Vivid’s Steve Hirsch for nearly a million dollars. The site also reports that the film now has its raunchy title: Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom.

The lucrative payday is a little bit less than Abraham had publicly hoped for. Copping to the existence of the tape to Us Weekly on April 10, Abraham mused, “I will not be settling for anything less then a couple million.” In the days that followed, Abraham was shot visiting Vivid’s offices (in the company of  her father) and lunching with Hirsch as they reportedly hammered out the details of the deal.

Why did Abaraham do it in the first place? Sources told Us that she’s desperate to revive her career after Teen Mom’s September 2012 finale failed to lead to a new reality show. “She tried to recruit a boyfriend for “Couples Therapy,” ” one pal told Us. “But no one would do it.”
She mused to Us of the film: “When I’m older, I’ll have my best year to look back on.”

Abraham is also expected to be arraigned shortly in her native Omaha, Nebraska for an alleged DUI.

Production of Man Of Steel XXX: An Axel Braun Parody wrapped recently in Los Angeles, and those who have been on the set unanimously agree that this might be Braun’s finest work to date. The parody movie debuts from Vivid Entertainment on June 14th.

“It was an epic undertaking, and I’m totally thrilled with the result,” says Braun, who has won dozens of awards for his adult parodies. “I think I pushed my compulsive attention to detail to a whole new level with the costumes…it might not mean much by Hollywood standards, but each of our Man Of Steel XXX suits costs more than the entire budget of most porn movies.”

But the big news is that in Braun’s movie Superman (played by Ryan Driller), aside from his classic blue/red costume, also wears a black one. “Supes has donned a black outfit before in the comics,” says notoriously über-geeky director Braun, “most memorably in the Death and Return of Superman storyline from 1992, which is one of my favorites.”

Braun says his original screenplay for Man of Steel XXX features a much larger cast of characters from the Superman universe. “No Zod, but definitely more boobs,” he says. The full cast includes Lex Luthor (fellow director Eli Cross, in an explosive non-sex performance), Batman (Giovanni Francesco, reprising the role he originated in Braun’s “The Dark Knight XXX”), Wonder Woman (Kimberly Kane), Lois Lane (Kirsten Price), Lana Lang (Samantha Ryan), Livewire (Sasha Knox), Silver Banshee (Skin Diamond), Angle Man (Alan Stafford), Dr. Fate (Eric Masterson), Zatanna (Kendall Karson) and Bizarro (Billy Glide).

Braun was honored in January at the AVN Awards (known as the “Oscars of Porn”) as “Best Director-Parody” for his work on the blockbuster hit Star Wars XXX, and made history by winning the coveted “Director of the Year-Body of Work” award for the third consecutive year, a feat never before accomplished by anybody in the adult industry.

Ultimately, I am glad to hear that she is out the adult entertainment industry. Not only because she is in her mid-forties, but this move seemed to be detrimental to her mental and physical health. Sadly, with several reports of her passing out at porn conventions followed by crazy tweets about a stolen dog, it seemed that Chyna was not going to be too long for this world.

Now, with this latest news, it appears that she may have a new lease on life and has a real purpose. That being said, I am uncertain how serious people will take this move and if it will last longer than a few months.

Personally, after watching a few videos, I kind of feel like this method of teaching seems to be a bit odd. However, I am hopeful that this career change gives her a fresh start and allows the WWE a chance to seriously consider her for its Hall of Fame.

Chances are she may have seriously blown her opportunity when she decided to go into porn. Nonetheless, the company should realize what she did for women’s wrestling in the WWE. Let’s face it, she not only broke the mold of the stereotypical Diva star, but she also became the first and only women to hold the company’s Intercontinental title.

Which to me is nothing short of amazing. Yes, Chyna comes with some baggage, but you can pretty much say the same thing about many of the WWE’s Hall of Famers. Legendary stars like Eddie Guerrero, Curt Hennig, The Von Erichs and Abdullah the Butcher have all been susceptible to different types of scandalous behavior. Yet, it was virtually ignored and each were inducted based on their in-ring notoriety alone.

In the end, if Chyna takes this career move seriously and stays clean, there is no reason that the WWE couldn’t induct her a few years down the line.

When God closes a door, he opens a window, and in the case of “Mob Wives Chicago” star Pia Rizza … that window is hardcore porn.
